Hours to Kill (Homeland Heroes #3) by Susan Sleeman

 

Homeland Security Agent Addison Leigh is working on a case and realizes that she needs the help of her old ICE team, the RED team.  Her estranged husband, ICE Agent Mack Jordan, is part of the team.  She sends him a message and then is involved in an accident.  This is an action packed story that keeps you riveted.  This is the third book in this series.  I have enjoyed the entire series.  The characters are interesting and there is much to learn in the way they do their investigations.

A Cowboy for Keeps (Colorado Cowboys #1)

 

Greta accepted a request from Colorado for a mail order bride hoping the climate would be better for her little sister with consumption.  When she arrived, however the prospective groom was missing.  A fellow traveler who lived in the same town, arranged for Greta to marry Wyatt, a struggling local rancher.  It was an odd way to start a marriage, but Greta didn't have any choice stranded in a small mountain town in Colorado with no prospects.  What transpired was a love story mixed with trials and missteps along the way.

I love this author's stories and can't wait for the next installment in this series!  I highly recommend this book to my fiction loving friends.

Braced for Love (Brothers in Arms #1) by Mary Connealy

 

The three sons of Clovis Hunt found out about each other when their fathers will was read giving each of them a third of his late wife’s ranch. None of them was happy about the fact that their individual mothers had been duped by their father.  But they all converged on the ranch to sort it all out.  Someone tried to kill them on the way. 

 

This is the start of another delightful trilogy by Mary Connealy who is the queen of fun and adventurous old west romance/suspense.

Lethal Intent by Cara Putman

 

Cara Putman always tells a great story.  She does a lot of research and I always learn something new about a timely topic.  This story is about Carolyn Bragg, an attorney, who has recently changed jobs and now works for a medical research firm who is doing cancer research.  Her boyfriend, Brandon Lancaster is a former pro football player who owns a group home where he provides a home for foster-to-adopt sibling groups.  One of his foster children is in the hospital with leukemia and she is receiving the experimental treatment. 

 

Complications arise when the experimental treatment begins to fail and Carolyn can’t tell Brandon about what she has learned at her workplace because he is a stockholder in the firm she works for.  This causes tension between the couple and also is a problem for Carolyn because her research into the problem is causing danger since she is getting too close to the truth. 

 

There is a lot of suspense in this story and it is the right mix of love story, suspense and human interest.  I highly recommend this book and all of Cara’s other books to anyone who likes a good read.

Courting Misfortune by Regina Jennings

 

 I loved this book.  Calista York is a new Pinkerton operative and she want to succeed and solve her case but she is sent back to the bastion of her family where her grandmother has an eye on everything that is going on and her well meaning cousins, aunts and uncles all keep showing up and throwing a monkey wrench into the works.  On top of that a young man named Matthew Cook who came to the area as a Pastor / Missionary to the miners keeps trying to convert and already converted Calista but she can’t blow her cover.

This book had some funny moments, some sad moments, and some annoying moments but it was well researched and a good historical as well as “love story.”  I would highly recommend this to other readers.

The Coffee Corner by Amy Clipston

 

Bethany Gingerich is an Amish young adult who runs a Coffee Shop in the Amish Marketplace.  Her cousins also have various types of stands in the Marketplace.  Bethany has appeared in their stories in this series but now this is her story.  Amy Clipston has made all these characters good friends to her readers and I have enjoyed every book in the series.  In this one, Micah Zook, who runs a business with his grandfather, makes Bethany’s acquaintance and they being to explore their pasts and their current relationship.

To Dwell Among Cedars by Connilyn Cossette

 

This is one of Connilyn Cossette's beautiful historical novels dealing with the Old Testament.  In this one we have Eliora and Ronen. Eliora was a Philistine but had been adopted by a Jewish elder.  This elder was the guardian of the Ark of the Covenant.  It had been stolen by the Philistines and then returned and he was hiding it.  Ronen is a Levite that is trying to find the Ark of the Covenant and get it back into Levite hands.  What ensues is a rich and colorful tale that brings us much information that enriches our study of the Bible. 

 

I highly recommend this to anyone who like good OT historical fiction.  This author is one of the best.
