A Woman of Words (Jerusalem Road #3) by Angela Elwell Hunt

This is another book in the Jerusalem Road line.  This is about Mary, the mother of Jesus, after Jesus' death and resurrection. Once again, Ms. Hunt hit it out of the ballpark.  This is a riveting story of life in the early church (ecclesia).  Mary has recruited Matthew (the Apostle) to help her write her memoirs.  She is ill and it is a grueling task but she is determined to get her memories on papyrus before she passes on.  Matthew is wanting to be about the business of spreading the Gospel, but the Holy Spirit compels him to do it in this way instead of the way he is accustomed to doing it.  This is so interesting and makes the scripture come alive.  Yes, it is a work of fiction, but it is factual in all the important details.  I have always been a fan of Angela Hunt and will continue to read everything she writes as soon as it is published.

An Unexpected Amish Courtship (Surprised by Love #2) by Rachel J. Good

Sovilla Mast is sent to live with an aunt she didn’t know she had in another state when her mother feels the need to protect her from her uncle who is trying to marry her off to someone undesirable.  Her aunt is an angry lady who is not particularly happy to have her but still tries to keep her from the local Amish community.  Isaac Lantz is a farmer who raises puppies to sell and a next door neighbor to Sovilla.  When Sovilla’s aunt needs to go to the hospital for surgery, Sovilla is left in charge of her farmers market stand.  Sovilla decides to bake dog treats to sell in the stand.   This story delves deep in the past and the mystery of what happened to Sovilla’s aunt and mother and uncle.  It is a very interesting story and not run of the mill.  I really enjoyed this story and this author.

Striking Range (Timber Creek K-9 Mystery #7) by Margaret Mizushima

This is number 7 in the Timber Creek K-9 Series about police officer Mattie Cobb and her K-9 partner, Robo. Her boyfriend, Cole, is the local veterinarian. I have loved every book in this series.  This book ties up some loose ends from previous stories and has some unexpected twists and turns.  This was a real who-done-it and kept me guessing.  Of course, I had to read past my bedtime to find out what was going to happen.  I highly recommend this author and this series.

Unknown Threat (Defend and Protect #1) by Lynn H Blackburn

FBI Special Agent Faith Malone  is put in charge of an investigation into the murders of some Secret Service agents in the local office.  US Secret Service Special Agent Luke Powell is put in charge of helping her.  He, too, was a target of the killer.  This is an action packed suspense thriller and is well written.  It was a page turner.  Lynn Blackburn is a wonderful author and is an expert on this kind of story.  And with luck we will have another book in this series in a few months.  I can’t wait!

Miriam’s Song by Jill Eileen Smith

This was an outstanding book about Moses’ sister, Miriam and told the story of Moses from infant to when Miriam died sometime after Joshua and Caleb’s first trip into the Promised Land.  The story was timely and was a spiritual experience for me. I could not put it down.

This book was well researched and I felt like I was along for the journey.  This is another one of this author’s wonderful Biblical historical novels.  I highly recommend it to fans of this genre.

Love’s Dwelling (Amish Blessings #1) by Kelly Irvin

Cassie Yoder lives with and works for an older couple the Keims.  Her job becomes much for challenging when the Keims daughter, whom they haven’t seen in 20+ years, dies and her children are brought to the Keims by a Social Worker and their older brother, Mason, who has been trying to hold everything together since the woman died.  They live in an Amish community in Haven, KS.  To complicate things, Mason doesn’t know who his father is but suspects he is an Amish man in the same community.  This had a very interesting story line and the characters were all very likable and compelling.  This author always tells good tales and I recommend this book and this author.  It looks like there will be a sequel and I’m looking forward to reading it!

A Time to Seek (Time Travel Journals of Sahara Aldridge, #1) by Tracy Higley

Wow! Just Wow! That's my first reaction. This book is very difficult to put down so I suggest anyone who reads it makes a block of time for it ahead of diving in. The research that was done on this was extensive and in depth. The characters were wonderful. The sense of ancient Egypt history is unbelievable. But the story itself is riveting. Time travel is always a fun concept and it is interesting to see different author's thought processes on how this would work.

Sahara was the daughter of two archeologists whose specialty was Egypt. They disappeared on a trip to Venice when Sharah was 15. Sahara became an archaeologist as well who specialized in Ancient Egypt and became part of digs of the Pharoahs' tombs. She had always wondered what happened to her parents and about the clues she had found in their belongings. She also wondered about unexplainable things that had happened to her. She was about to get some more clues.

If you are a fan of time travel novels, historical fiction, Christian fiction, or just want to try a new and exciting reading experience, this book is for you! Grab a copy as soon as they release it and jump into some personal gratification.

Let It Be Me (A Misty River Romance #2) by Becky Wade

Sebastian and Leah meet in an unexpected incident and Sebastian is instantly attracted.  Sebastian is a former foster child who grew up to be a pediatric cardiac surgeon.  Leah is a mathematical genius who gave up on her PhD to raise a younger sibling.  She now teaches High School math.  Add to the picture Leah’ recent discovery about her genealogy and the fact that Sebastian’s best friend has long had a thing for Leah.  And both of them distrust relationships and are conflicted about that stance and their budding attraction. This is a fun story.  I hope there is another story coming into this series.

Three Missing Days (Pelican Harbor #3) by Colleen Coble

This is another installment in the Pelican Harbor series.  Sheriff Jane Hardy is still trying to unravel the mysteries of her childhood with little help from her parents who are both holding back information.  Meanwhile, her son Will is being threatened and she and Reid, her ex- who is Will’s father, are frantically working to solve the situation and help Will.  The story answers a lot of questions from the first two books and I really enjoyed it.  There was a lot of suspense and “who done it,” involved which always make for a great story.

Aftermath by Terri Blackstock

Jamie Powell, a criminal defense attorney, is called by a childhood friend, Dustin who has been arrested for stolen bomb parts in his car on the same day that a bomb went off in a political rally in a large venue in town.  The bomb was made with other components that were stolen at the same time.  Dustin and his partner have a successful security business and the components were stolen from a business they had set up security for.  He is obviously being framed, and Jamie is determined to help him through this process and find the real criminals.  This was full of suspense and action.  It was well written and a great read.
