Christmas Comes to Morning Star (The Maidels of Morning Star #3) by Charlotte Hubbard

This is a fun book in the series about Morning Star.  It is about a small Amish community where everyone is involved in the local Saturday market with their own home businesses.  This one is about the twins,, Molly and Marietta and also about Jo.  Their romances are fun and interesting.  The characters are well developed and I love the fact that this is a whole series of books that include all these people.  Charlotte Hubbard is one of my favorite Amish romance authors.

Breach of Honor by Janice Cantore

This is a great cop story and excellent suspense tale that explores dirty cop, prison life, small town politics and domestic abuse.  Janice Cantore is one of my favorite authors in this genre.

Leah Radcliffe is a copy married to a cop and also the victim of domestic abuse.  Clint Tanner is another cop that has admired Leah for many years and is ready to help when Leah is unjustly accused of murder.  This is an engaging tale that keeps the reader riveted.  If this is your genre, this should be next on your reading list.

A Time to Weep (The Time Travel Journals of Sahara Aldridge #2) by Tracy L. Higley

Sahara Aldridge continues her search for her parents and sister in the annals of time in this time travel story.  This time it is Rome in the time of the Emperor Nero.  If you enjoy time travel and/are a fan of Tracy Higley's books, this is something you don't want to miss.  Now I'm eagerly awaiting the final book in this series and the climax of the story.

Ms. Higley's take on time travel is fascinating and her research into Ancient Egypt and Ancient Rome is impeccable.

Hit the Road Jack (Jack Ryder #1) by Willow Rose

Jack Ryder is a cop in Cocoa Beach, FL.  He has young twins (boy and girl) and a teenaged daughter that he adopted when her single mother who was Jack's partner died in a police action.  They live in a condo on the beach near the small tourist motel his parents are running in their retirement. Jack gets involved in some interesting cases.

I'll just stop right here and say that I chose 4 of Willow Rose's books to review, never having heard of this author before, but always a fan of a good law enforcement story. Wow! I was hooked immediately. I then discovered that Ms. Rose is a prolific writer and proceeded to order all her books from 3 of her series so I could read the WHOLE story. I had a reading marathon. I am hooked and can't wait to read more. Highly recommend anything by this author!

The Librarian's Journey: 4 Historical Romances by Darlene Franklin, Patty Smith Hall, Cynthia Hickey, Marilyn Turk, and Kathleen Y'Barbo

This is a collection of stories about Packhorse Librarians in rural Appalachia during the Great Depression. These librarians were hired to ride out into the very rural areas and bring books for people to read to inspire literacy. It was part of a WPA program funded by the US Government to give people job opportunities.

What I enjoy about these types of books is that each story is a comfortable length for sitting and reading all at once. I recommend this book to those who want a quick, satisfying read.

The Gold in These Hills by Joanne Bischof

This story is about an abandoned town in the mountains where the gold mine that it was built around was shut down. It also is about the person that bought the property in modern times and his and others' interest in the people that had inhabited it. It combines well researched historical fiction and genealogical research, both of which I am interested in. I highly recommend this book.

Freedom's Song by Kim Vogel Sawyer

This is the story of a girl who was purchased as an indentured servant by an unscrupulous riverboat captain. She sang to the customers and then returned to her quarters under guard. When there is a fire on the boat, she manages to escape and meets up with a group of runaway slaves. They help each other and manage to get to freedom. This is an interesting story that highlights the underground railroad and the plight of all people who are not free. I love the combining of cultures and the historical accuracy. Once again, Kim Vogel Sawyer has written a wonderful story!

Hostile Intent (Danger Never Sleeps #4) by Lynette Eason

This is a great suspense story -- well crafted and spellbinding to the very end.  It involves a female ex-military member and a male FBI agent working together to find a killer.  I love stories about FBI agents and I really enjoy a good whodunit so this is a double whammy.  I enjoy this author and her work.
